All Black legend Brad Thorn has been a loyal supporter of Pillars since his days playing for the mighty Crusaders. He was drawn to Pillars as a Canterbury-based charity and being a mentor to many young rugby players starting out, he liked our mentoring model. Brad knows the value of one positive voice in your life when you need it most. As a father he believes all kiwi kids deserve a chance to have a positive role model and opportunities to build their self-worth. Brad is currently living and working overseas but supports Pillars from afar and when he can visit New Zealand he takes part in publicity events such as "Brads Blokes Breakfast" to recruit more male mentors.
Ï was blessed to grow up in a loving family where my father and mother were excellent role models. Now I am a father of four and understand how children need support and love to grow into healthy adults. The children of prisoners have found themselves in a life situation in which they have no say. They are suffering through no fault of their own. These children need our hope and support to get through their situation."
