- Would you like to make a difference in a youth or child's life?
- Can youth or children relate to you?
- Could you put a spark in a youth or child's life?
- Could you commit to one child, once a fortnight for one year? It'll only take a couple of hours!
Volunteering with PILLARS can change your weekend ... your life ... and the lives of the PILLARS youth and children too.
Start the journey of being a mentor by coming along to an Introduction to Mentoring Session. We will go through everything you need to know to apply to be a mentor. Application packs are available at the end of this session. We would love you to join our team!
You can help a child see the connection between his/her actions of today and dreams and goals of tomorrow.
We are proud that PILLARS has already captured the hearts of over 500 volunteers since its inception from all walks of life.
Our programme is designed to offer accessible volunteering to people who already lead busy lives.
PILLARS adopts best practices by assigning a dedicated Supervisor who will clarify roles, provide training and ongoing support.
All our volunteers are requested to clearly understand and support our child protection poliices and procedures.
We have a provision of liability insurance coverage for volunteers on our programmes.
In addition, you may join our special group, Friends of PILLARS.
“I believe by being a positive role model and by providing support and encouragement in a safe environment, young people can grow and develop and find their way forward in a positive manner in an often unstable environment and world.
With positive guidance young people can learn respect for self and others and with achieving positive self esteem they also learn to be responsible for their actions which will in turn help them make the right decisions as they walk through their lives.
I find mentoring a humbling and hugely rewarding experience & totally awe-inspiring”
Katrina, Mentor October 2006
