Why I volunteered:

  • To give something back to the community.

  • Getting to know a teenager and being able to positively impact her life.
  • Doing fun and different things that I ordinarily wouldn't do.
  • Seeing her suceed in life instead of fail.

Why I volunteered:

It's important for children to have role models outside of the family.  Young people are our future and I wanted to help make a positive impact.

Benefits I get from mentoring:

  • It's humbling
  • Fun to connect with a young person
  • Challenges me
  • Makes me grateful for the opportunities I had
  • Expands my horizons

Why I volunteered:

Sometimes it is too easy just to give money and not your time.  One on one time with a child to me is much more valuable and much more satisfying.

Why I volunteered:

I know how important it is to have someone else to talk to outside of the family when theres lots happening in a young persons life that they have to deal with.

Benefits I get from mentoring:

  • Giving opportunities and new experiences to my mentee and seeing their response, good and bad.
  • Seeing a happy child/young person.
  • Having fun and doing things I probably wouldn't do otherwise.
