Mentoring for Children

Once a whānau has received social work support and have achieved some of their goals, our Mentoring Coordinators match the tamariki with an askable, trusted adult from our community of volunteers. These volunteers are trained and supported by our Mentoring Coordinators and are well prepared to provide tamariki with experiences outside of their horizons.

If you would like to make a referral to our mentoring programme contact our Social Work team.

What our Mentoring Community says

My son and I would like to acknowledge all the support we have received from Pillars over the years through our social worker and more recently the mentor support we have received..."

- Dad supported by Pillars

Our Mentoring Programme creates quality, lasting one-on-one relationships for tamariki and rangatahi with an ‘askable adult’.

Operating in Ōtautahi and Manukau, mentoring coordinators train, support and match volunteers with tamariki and rangatahi in the mentoring programme. They act as an aunty, uncle, big brother or big sister figure e.t.c. who are the joketellers, adventurers and friends tamariki need.
