Wrap Around Whānau Programme

Our Wrap Around Whānau programme works with Ara Poutama (The Department of Corrections) to support the family of those receiving mental health care within prison or anyone involved with corrections. Our services are whānau-led and responsive to the family/individuals needs and goals. Our Social Workers walk alongside whānau to better understand their family member’s circumstances, while giving them their own support system to learn best methods to handle stress and difficult times.

Our WAW/WAF Social Workers can:

  • Assist by supporting families with services such as Kāinga Ora, WINZ or Oranga Tamariki.

  • Assist whānau to address social issues such as housing, finances, employment, and family violence.

  • Support families to address any personal issues such as drugs and alcohol dependence, parenting, grief, and trauma.

Referrals for our Mental Health Wrap Around Services can only be made by a clinician from Mental Health Reintegration Services or other staff within Ara Poutama  (The Department of Corrections).

This service is offered in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) and Kirikiriroa (Hamilton).

If you do not meet the requirements please see the Family Services Directory to access the right support for you and your whānau.

For more information on this service, please contact us.

“Being able to open up and talk out my problems with you, having someone there to hear what I’ve been through… I feel like a much stronger person than I was then, I know what I will and won’t put up with”
